Job Overview:
A nationally regarded law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Litigation Associate for its Washington, D.C. office. This role is well-suited for an attorney with three to five years of litigation experience who is ready to assume greater responsibility and contribute meaningfully to complex commercial and regulatory matters. The position offers hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and a path toward managing significant aspects of litigation independently within a collegial and growth-focused environment.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and related litigation filings

  • Prepare and respond to written discovery requests

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on substantive and procedural issues

  • Assist with or second-chair depositions and witness interviews

  • Oversee or contribute to document collection, review, and production processes

  • Collaborate with clients and partners on strategic case development and execution

  • Manage aspects of commercial and regulatory litigation involving clients across a variety of industries

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in litigation, preferably at a law firm

  • Prior experience second-chairing depositions or interviews and overseeing discovery efforts

  • Strong background in legal writing, motion practice, and research

  • District or appellate clerkship experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to assume increasing levels of responsibility

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law and in good standing (preferably admitted in the District of Columbia or eligible for admission)

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Proficient in managing complex litigation tasks

  • Excellent legal research and writing ability

  • Effective at collaborating across teams and with clients

  • Well-organized and capable of handling multiple deadlines
