Job Overview:

A law firm specializing in intellectual property law seeks a skilled and experienced Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join their team in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate should possess 2-6 years of legal experience, focusing on intellectual property, specifically in drafting and patent prosecution. A background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields is required, and design engineering experience with a chip company is a valuable asset. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or similar domains.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct thorough patent searches and analyses to assess the patentability of inventions.
  • Draft high-quality patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Work closely with inventors, clients, and colleagues to understand and effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to provide support in patent litigation matters.
  • Stay updated on changes in patent laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience, focusing on intellectual property.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience in design engineering with a chip company is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of patent prosecution processes.
  • Admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or related areas.
  • Bar licensure in California is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
