Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy Litigation Associate to join its commercial mortgage-backed securities special servicer and creditors’ rights team. The role involves handling complex commercial foreclosures, receiverships, real estate litigation, and bankruptcy matters. Candidates should have strong litigation experience, including motion practice, discovery, and courtroom advocacy.

Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Manage commercial foreclosure and receivership matters.
  • Handle bankruptcy litigation, including motion practice, discovery (including e-discovery), and courtroom representation.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Represent clients in mediation, arbitration, and trial proceedings.
  • Advise clients on commercial landlord-tenant disputes, including preparing and serving predicate notices and court pleadings.

Requirements:

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in commercial litigation and bankruptcy litigation.
  • Strong background in real estate-related disputes.
  • Experience with commercial landlord-tenant litigation preferred.
  • Strong understanding of procedural rules and litigation strategy.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership and good standing in the state of practice.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong advocacy and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
