Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Sexual Abuse and Sexual Assault Litigation Attorney in New York City, NY. This role involves representing survivors in complex litigation, focusing on institutional accountability and survivor advocacy. The attorney will work with a trauma-informed team to build compelling cases and provide strategic courtroom advocacy.

Duties

  • Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Lead discovery efforts to uncover institutional negligence.
  • Depose witnesses and defend sensitive client depositions.
  • Draft critical litigation documents, including motions and discovery requests.
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses to prepare for trial.
  • Participate in trial preparation, focusing on survivor testimony and damages presentations.
  • Collaborate on high-level strategy and training of other attorneys.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of litigation experience preferred, with exposure to trauma-informed practices.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Passion for survivor advocacy and overcoming institutional barriers.
  • Experience with complex civil litigation or institutional liability cases is a plus.
  • Understanding of the psychological impact of sexual trauma is valued.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the state of New York.
