Junior Associate Attorney needed for Fairfax office

Job Overview:
A well-established and fast-growing law firm in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Junior Associate Attorney to support its Family and Criminal Law practice. This full-time position is ideal for attorneys with a demonstrated interest in litigation and a strong desire to develop hands-on experience in domestic law matters such as divorce, child custody, protective orders, and criminal defense. The role offers meaningful courtroom exposure and the opportunity to work collaboratively with an experienced legal team.

Location:

• Fairfax, VA

Duties:

• Represent clients in family law and criminal law matters, including divorce, custody, domestic violence, and protective orders

• Appear in court for return hearings, pretrial conferences, and motions

• Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and client correspondence

• Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal staff on case strategy

• Communicate with clients in a timely and professional manner

• Manage deadlines and ensure timely filings

• Attend depositions, settlement conferences, and other legal proceedings as required

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice in Virginia (Virginia State Bar membership in good standing)

• Candidates who have sat for the Virginia Bar Exam may be considered

• Strong interest in litigation and family/criminal law

• Reliable transportation required for court appearances and client meetings

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Virginia State Bar (or pending admission)

Skills:

• Excellent verbal and legal writing skills

• Strong time management and organizational abilities

• Proficiency in legal research and analysis

• Professional demeanor with courtroom presence

• Spanish language fluency is a plus
