Job Overview: A law firm seeks a skilled Community Association Attorney to provide legal counsel and representation to community associations and homeowners' associations (HOAs). The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in contract review, case law research, and client relations, along with a strong attention to detail and knowledge of governing documents.

Duties:

  • Reviewing and modifying contracts about community associations and HOAs
  • Interpreting and drafting amendments to governing documents such as bylaws and covenants
  • Conducting case law research relevant to community association law
  • Drafting legal opinions and documents, including amendments to governing documents
  • Maintaining client relations and providing legal advice to community association boards and members
  • Preparing for and attending board member meetings to offer legal guidance and representation
  • Reviewing community association issues and providing informed legal counsel

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience displaying excellent attention to detail, contract review, and case law research
  • Experience in Community Association/HOA law
  • Significant review of legal documents using electronic review platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with document management systems, preferably iManage

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the Florida Bar Association or eligibility for admission

Certifications:

  • Certification in Community Association Law (e.g., from the Community Associations Institute) is preferred

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining client relationships
