Job Overview:

The Criminal Law Attorney will be responsible for providing legal counsel to clients, representing them in court, preparing legal documents, managing administrative tasks, conducting legal research, and demonstrating strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Duties:

  • Counsel clients by assessing options and determining the best course of action for a successful outcome
  • Represent clients in court to argue motions during legal proceedings
  • Prepare various legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence
  • Preside over paralegals and administrative assistants in connection with time records, client billing, meetings, and projects
  • Perform research, draft briefs, pleadings, and motions
  • Utilize legal research programs such as Westlaw and Lexis products
  • Conduct Criminal Jury trial cases with a minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Demonstrate significant jury trial experience

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • 2 years of related experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in a law firm environment
  • Active membership in the local bar association preferred
  • Prior experience in Criminal Jury trial cases for a minimum of 3 years
  • Strong public speaking, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Membership in the local bar association - active member preferred

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of legal research programs such as Westlaw and Lexis products
  • Significant jury trial experience
  • Public speaking, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
