A law firm in Newark is actively seeking an experienced Tax Attorney with a focus on tax and transactional matters, encompassing mergers and acquisitions, multistate tax issues, federal, state, and local tax controversies, global transactions, restructurings, as well as private equity and venture capital expertise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in due diligence reviews, federal and state tax incentives, technical research, tax return compliance, and employee benefits.

 

Duties:

  • Handle tax and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, multistate tax issues, federal, state, and local tax controversies, global transactions, restructurings, private equity, and venture capital.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews and provide expertise in federal and state tax incentives.
  • Perform technical research on tax matters and ensure compliance with tax return regulations.
  • Address employee benefits-related issues.
  • Represent public and private organizations with local, national, and multinational operations.
  • Build and maintain a practice focused on tax matters.

 

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of law firm or clerkship experience.
  • Extensive experience in tax and transactional matters.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Admission to practice in the state.
  • Prior employment in a law firm environment is preferred.
  • Excellent academic background.
  • Experience with private equity and venture capital.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to practice in the state.

 

Skills:

  • Expertise in tax and transactional matters.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to represent public and private organizations with local, national, and multinational operations.
