Elder Law/Trusts & Estate Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm based in Garden City, NY is seeking a detail-oriented Associate Attorney with at least two years of experience in Elder Law and/or Trusts & Estates. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys on estate planning, Medicaid planning, guardianship, and probate matters. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong legal research skills, an understanding of complex estate and elder care issues, and a commitment to providing compassionate and thorough legal counsel.

Location:

• Garden City, New York

Duties:

• Conduct legal research to support case strategy and preparation

• Draft and review a variety of legal documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives

• Prepare and file probate and estate administration petitions

• Assist in Medicaid planning and guardianship matters

• Represent clients at court hearings and legal meetings

• Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop effective legal solutions

• Maintain and manage case files in accordance with firm policies

• Monitor and apply updates in elder law and estate planning statutes and regulations

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Elder Law and/or Trusts & Estates

• Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Lexis-Nexis

• Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced legal setting

• High attention to detail and organizational ability

• Strong client service skills and the ability to explain complex legal concepts

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar (required)

Skills:

• Drafting and interpreting estate planning documents

• Knowledge of guardianship, probate, and Medicaid-related legal procedures

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• Legal research and analytical thinking
