Job Overview

A dynamic and expanding law firm in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with 2–4 years of legal experience. This role provides the opportunity to work on a variety of complex matters in construction, business, and real estate law, with guidance and mentorship from experienced practitioners. Duties

  • Perform in-depth legal research and provide analytical support

  • Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and discovery responses

  • Conduct and participate in depositions, interviews, and investigations

  • Represent clients during court appearances including motions, hearings, and trials

  • Assist in negotiation of contracts and resolution of legal disputes

  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance, risk management, and strategic legal planning

  • Manage litigation cases from inception through resolution

  • Maintain communication with clients, opposing counsel, and other involved parties

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategy and deliver legal counsel

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of relevant legal experience

  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient in litigation procedures and legal document drafting

  • Strong client communication and relationship management skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Michigan or eligibility for admission

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong legal research and drafting abilities

  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and propose practical solutions

  • Experience in depositions and courtroom procedures

  • Familiarity with business, real estate, or construction law is preferred
