Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly skilled Family Law Associate Attorney to join their team in Miami, FL. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in heavy asset divorces, highly contentious family law, and dependency matters, along with exceptional trial skills and negotiation abilities. The successful candidate will manage full case handling responsibilities from inception through resolution, cultivating client relationships and providing strategic leadership to support staff.

Duties:

  • Cultivate relationships with the firm’s existing and future clients
  • Analyze case-specific legal issues and documentation
  • Foster and maintain an excellent rapport with clients through consistent communication and thorough advisement
  • Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution
  • Independently handle decision-making on a case-by-case basis
  • Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants
  • Work as part of a team with all levels of experience and be open to cross-training for coverage outside the associate duties
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Prepare clients for trial
  • Supervise support staff and team
  • Participate in mediation and settlement conferences
  • Handle cases from inception to trial
  • Effectively manage client expectations
  • Participate in community involvement activities
  • Stay open-minded and adaptable to evolving legal landscapes

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in family law practice
  • Experience in heavy asset divorces, highly contentious family law, and dependency matters
  • Community involvement demonstrates a commitment to social responsibility
  • Trial skills and experience conducting evidentiary hearings
  • Negotiation skills and experience in mediation and settlement conferences
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage client expectations
  • Self-starter with the ability to handle challenges and resolve them
  • Licensed to practice law in Florida
  • Deposition experience
  • Strong networking skills

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Florida State Bar
