Job Overview: A law firm seeks a highly skilled Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of legal experience, specializing in intellectual property (IP) law, particularly in drafting and patent prosecution. The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, with design engineering experience, preferably with a chip company. Additionally, candidates with expertise in networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or similar technologies are preferred. The successful candidate must be admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), with California Bar licensure being a plus.

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications, responses to office actions, and other legal documents related to patent prosecution.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to patent matters.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and patent examiners.
  • Assist with patent portfolio management and strategy development.
  • Provide legal counsel on intellectual property matters, including patent infringement and validity opinions.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in intellectual property law with a focus on drafting and patent prosecution.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Design engineering experience with a chip company is preferred.
  • Familiarity with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or similar technologies.
  • Admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • California Bar licensure is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
  • Bar licensure in California is a plus.
