A law firm seeks an intellectual property attorney for its Sarasota, FL, office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Job Overview:

  • Work closely with other partners and senior associates on patent and trademark issues.
  • Handle patent and trademark litigation and dispute resolution matters.

Duties:

  • Conduct patent and trademark litigation and dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on case strategy and execution.
  • Perform legal research and draft legal documents, including complaints, motions, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.
  • Manage caseload and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Stay updated on changes in patent and trademark law and industry trends.

Requirements:

  • 8-12 years of patent and trademark litigation and dispute resolution experience in a law firm setting.
  • Significant experience in Patent and Trademark Litigation.
  • Admission to the Patent Bar is preferred.
  • Member of the Florida Bar or in the process of becoming one.
  • Strong litigation skills and experience in handling complex IP disputes.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within deadlines and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred, or significant experience litigating patents in these technology areas.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Patent Bar is preferred.
  • Membership in the Florida Bar or eligibility for admission.
