Senior Appellate Associate

Job Overview:
A top-tier law firm is hiring a Senior Appellate Litigation Associate with 4–6 years of post-clerkship litigation experience to join its Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. The ideal candidate will bring significant appellate experience, particularly in intellectual property and patent matters, and a background in private-sector legal practice. This opportunity is being managed by a legal recruitment agency on behalf of the firm.

Location:

• Washington, DC

Duties:

• Oversee all aspects of appellate litigation from briefing through oral argument

• Prepare complex appellate briefs, motions, and legal memoranda

• Conduct high-level legal research and contribute to case strategy

• Represent clients before federal appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court

• Work closely with partners and clients on strategic litigation decisions

• Mentor junior associates and contribute to team development

Requirements:

• 4–6 years of post-clerkship litigation experience

• Demonstrated appellate litigation experience, particularly in intellectual property and patent law

• Previous experience in private-sector legal practice preferred

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Bar admission in the District of Columbia or eligibility for prompt admission

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

• Excellent academic credentials

Certifications:

• Bar admission in D.C. or eligibility to obtain admission promptly

• One or more appellate or Supreme Court clerkships strongly preferred

Skills:

• Expertise in appellate writing and oral advocacy
