Associate Attorney – Litigation (Insurance Defense)

Job Overview

A fast-growing, multi-state law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Insurance Defense Litigation team in Ramsey, New Jersey. This role offers an excellent opportunity for both new and experienced attorneys to gain hands-on experience in insurance litigation, including general liability, no-fault, and uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) matters. The position includes opportunities for courtroom advocacy, depositions, client counseling, and working closely with a supportive, team-oriented group. A hybrid schedule may be considered.

Location

  • Ramsey, New Jersey

Duties

  • Represent clients in litigation, including trials, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative hearings

  • Prepare and draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery responses

  • Take and defend depositions and examinations under oath

  • Conduct legal research and advise clients on insurance coverage and litigation strategy

  • Appear in court proceedings on behalf of clients

  • Attend arbitrations, mediations, and pre-trial conferences

  • Ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal staff to manage case progression

  • Maintain regular communication with clients and opposing counsel

Requirements

  • Active license to practice law in New Jersey

  • Admission in New York is strongly preferred

  • Prior litigation or insurance defense experience is a plus, but not required

  • Strong interest in insurance law, general liability, UM/UIM, or no-fault claims

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple caseloads

  • Commitment to high ethical standards and professionalism

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the New Jersey State Bar (required)

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (preferred)
