A law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a Consumer Finance Special Counsel. The candidate will primarily engage in regulatory counseling and drafting pertaining to federal and state consumer lending laws. This role requires substantial experience in consumer finance, including advising bank and non-bank financial institutions, negotiating contracts, and interpreting licensing requirements. Specific experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act is highly preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Provide regulatory counseling and drafting services principally related to federal and state consumer lending laws.
  • Advise on compliance with laws including the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
  • Draft contracts and lending documents for consumer and commercial purposes.
  • Interpret licensing requirements and ensure compliance for financial institutions.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and advise clients accordingly.
  • Conduct research on consumer finance laws and regulations.

 

Requirements:

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active member of the Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant regulatory experience.
  • Significant consumer finance experience, including advising bank and non-bank financial institutions.
  • Proficiency in negotiating and drafting contracts.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulatory interpretation.
  • Specific experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act preferred.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active Bar membership in the jurisdiction.
