Job Overview

A law firm seeks a seasoned Commercial Real Estate Associate Attorney for its Rochester, NY location. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of experience in commercial real estate and development, capable of independently managing deals and advising sophisticated clients. This role involves working closely with partners and clients on complex transactions, including acquisitions, development, leasing, and financing.

Duties

  • Manage all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, development, leasing, and financing.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, such as loan documents and commercial leases.
  • Conduct detailed title and survey reviews, resolving any encumbrances or objections.
  • Perform due diligence and coordinate environmental, zoning, and land use reviews.
  • Lead transaction closings, ensuring compliance with timelines and deliverables.
  • Serve as primary counsel to developers, lenders, investors, and municipalities.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance on deal structuring and compliance.
  • Supervise non-attorney staff to ensure transaction accuracy and timeliness.
  • Coordinate with attorneys across practice groups for multidisciplinary matters.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Real Estate & Finance Practice Group.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of experience in commercial real estate law, focusing on complex transactions.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York State.
  • Expertise in negotiation, deal management, and client advisory work.
  • Experience overseeing closing personnel and managing timelines.
  • Tax credit, municipal, or commercial leasing experience is a plus.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in New York State.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and deal management abilities.
  • Excellent client advisory and communication skills.
  • Proficient in managing complex transactions and supervising staff.
