Job Title: Real Estate Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Rochester, NY, is actively seeking a Commercial Real Estate Associate Attorney with a background in managing transactional matters involving commercial properties. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with senior attorneys and high-profile clients on acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing, and development of diverse property types, including office buildings, mixed-use developments, multifamily units, retail centers, and energy assets.

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate contracts, leases, purchase agreements, and financing documentation

  • Conduct legal due diligence, including title, survey, and zoning review

  • Coordinate and manage complex real estate closings from start to finish

  • Respond to transactional inquiries and diligence requests from clients and counterparties

  • Support business development by contributing to client communications and strategy discussions

  • Analyze and resolve real estate title issues, including preparing title objection letters and title curative documents

  • Liaise with internal teams, third-party stakeholders, and external counsel to ensure transactional deadlines are met

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in New York or eligibility for admission by waiver

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience handling commercial real estate or finance transactions

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage aspects of real estate deals, including documentation and closing coordination

  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and drafting skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or ability to obtain admission promptly)

Skills:

  • Familiarity with real estate finance, title review, and leasing structures

  • Proficient in transactional legal research and document drafting

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters simultaneously

  • Client-focused mindset with the ability to work collaboratively within a team

  • Proficiency in common legal and title software systems
