A law firm based in Edwardsville, IL, is seeking an experienced General Practice Transactional Associate Attorney with a strong background in both general practice transactional work and complex defense litigation. The ideal candidate will have expertise in areas such as products and premises liability, class actions, commercial litigation, corporate/business formation, estate planning, real estate transactions, contract negotiations, collection, and municipal and government law.

 

Duties:

  • Oversee various legal matters, including business litigation, estate planning, probate, real estate, and contract issues.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, rules, regulations, court decisions, and legal opinions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
  • Develop new business in the general practice area through client development efforts.
  • Monitor case files to ensure deadlines are met and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Make court appearances and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Prepare pleadings, memos, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Provide exceptional client service and maintain strong client relationships.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois Bar: admission to the Missouri Bar is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in general practice transactional work and defense litigation.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Excellent analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Interest in business and client development.
