A law firm in Houston is seeking a Patent Agent with 2+ years of experience to support the firm's patent prosecution practice. The candidate will draft patent applications and prosecute applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, specializing in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers. Strong technical expertise and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment are essential.

 

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and prosecute applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Conduct technical research to support various patent-related matters.
  • Draft scientific and technical patent applications clearly and concisely.
  • Manage internal and client-driven deadlines with assignments from multiple partners and clients.
  • Provide support to attorneys in patent prosecution matters.
  • Assist in evaluating and analyzing patent portfolios.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience drafting patent applications, specializing in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers.
  • Registered to practice in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Attention to detail, writing skills, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

 

Education:

Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in a relevant field.

 

Certifications:

  • Registered to practice in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • If appropriate, licensed to practice law in their respective state.
