Job Overview

A law firm seeks a full-time Trial Attorney to join their team in Century City, California. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising attorneys and be licensed in California, with a minimum of two years managing civil litigation in State and Federal courts.

Duties

  • Conduct and manage meet-and-confer efforts on discovery issues.
  • Lead pre-trial preparation and trial strategy.
  • Delegate and supervise assignments for junior attorneys and staff.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, experts, and witnesses.
  • Argue substantive motions in court.
  • Independently manage and litigate a full case docket.
  • Prepare litigation reports and risk assessments for clients and leadership.
  • Engage in discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Examine and cross-examine witnesses at trial; respond to evidentiary objections.
  • Attend and lead hearings, mediations, and other proceedings.
  • Negotiate settlements leveraging deep case knowledge.
  • Prepare, argue, and litigate a diverse roster of cases through trial.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and complex case analysis.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 4-5 years of trial experience.
  • 5-10 first chair jury trials.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Superior drafting and writing skills.
  • High degree of self-accountability and ownership.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with judges, attorneys, staff, and clients.
  • Enthusiasm for developing skills and experience.
  • Experience with and adaptability to new technology and software application systems.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in California.
