Commercial Real Estate Litigation Attorney

A law firm located in Potomac, MD, is seeking a skilled Commercial Real Estate Litigation Attorney with 3+ years of experience in general civil and real estate litigation. The successful candidate will handle a diverse range of routine commercial/landlord-tenant court hearings, ensure compliance with housing-related regulations, engage in dispute resolution, and support senior associates. Admission to the DC State Bar (VA and MD a plus) in good standing is required.

Duties:

• Handle a diverse range of routine commercial/landlord-tenant court hearings.
• Ensure compliance with housing-related regulations.
• Engage in dispute resolution and, if necessary, litigation proceedings.
• Support a senior associate and collaborate closely with several shareholders.
• Assist during all phases of the litigation process, including investigating claims, initiation/defense of cases, discovery, and trial.
• Prepare and draft a variety of dispute or litigation-related documents, including discovery, pleadings, and correspondence.
• Communicate effectively with clerk offices, clients, opposing attorneys, and other team members via phone and email.
• Conduct legal research, including identifying relevant case law and determining proper legal parties to lawsuits.
• Maintain awareness of case statuses and manage case files efficiently.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the DC State Bar (VA and MD a plus) and in good standing.
• 3+ years of experience as an attorney with general civil and real estate litigation experience.
• Experience practicing litigation, with landlord-tenant litigation experience being a plus.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and software.

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

Admission to the DC State Bar (VA and MD a plus) and in good standing.
