A law firm is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Private Funds Associate Attorney for its Chicago office. The ideal candidate should have some experience with fund formation and investment adviser work, along with a genuine interest in practicing as a private funds lawyer. The Private Funds Associate Attorney will work on fund formation and investment adviser matters, requiring strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills. The role involves drafting fund agreements and understanding fund economics.

 

Duties:

  • Assist with fund formation and investment adviser matters
  • Draft fund agreements and related legal documents
  • Conduct legal research on securities laws and tax implications
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on client matters
  • Provide legal advice on fund economics and structuring

 

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of experience in a large law firm setting
  • Admission to practice in the jurisdiction or eligibility for admission
  • Strong academic background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented approach to work
  • Basic understanding of entity types from a tax perspective
  • Familiarity with Federal securities laws (e.g., the ’33 Act, the ’34 Act, the Investment Company Act, and the Investment Advisers Act)

 

Education:

JD degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admission to practice in the jurisdiction or eligibility for admission

 

Skills:

  • Legal research and analytical skills
