Job Overview: A respected law firm is seeking a Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Junior Associate with 2-3 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in privacy incident response, compliance counseling, risk management, and privacy litigation. This role offers opportunities to work with a variety of privacy laws, including state and federal regulations such as CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric laws. The position is available for multiple office locations, with a preference for Chicago and Dallas, and provides a hybrid work schedule with weekly in-office expectations.

Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Advise clients on data privacy and cybersecurity matters, including incident response, compliance counseling, and risk management
  • Stay up to date on privacy laws and provide counsel regarding CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, state biometric, and health laws
  • Assist with privacy litigation and regulatory matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate privacy-related agreements, policies, and contracts
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop strategies for compliance
  • Handle privacy breach reporting and manage privacy risk assessment

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in data privacy and cybersecurity
  • Knowledge of privacy incident response, compliance counseling, risk management, and privacy litigation
  • Familiarity with state privacy laws, breach reporting laws, and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state biometric and health laws
  • Admission to the State Bar

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US certification preferred
  • If not already certified, CIPP/US certification must be obtained within one year of hire

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Familiarity with privacy regulations and laws at both state and federal levels
