Job Overview:

A leading East Coast-based law firm with a national and international reach is seeking a seasoned Associate or Senior Associate attorney to join its Private Client practice. This role focuses on international estate planning and cross-border tax strategies for high-net-worth individuals and families. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in planning and compliance matters involving multi-jurisdictional legal structures. Location:

  • New Haven, CT

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on international estate and tax planning

  • Advise U.S. and non-U.S. taxpayers on multi-jurisdictional wealth management structures

  • Handle complex planning, including:

    • Pre-immigration and expatriation planning

    • Structuring and administration of foreign trusts

    • U.S. property acquisition strategies for non-residents

    • FATCA, FBAR, and other international reporting obligations

  • Collaborate with attorneys in tax, corporate, and family office practice areas

  • Deliver sophisticated legal strategies with attention to both tax and non-tax considerations

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in international estate planning

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-value planning matters independently

  • Familiarity with global compliance regulations and planning tools

  • Proven client service and professional judgment

  • Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in a U.S. jurisdiction (required)

Skills:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
