A law firm based in Seattle is seeking a Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent. The ideal candidate should possess a high level of academic achievement and substantial law firm, engineering, or industry experience, along with superb writing and communication skills. The candidate must hold a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering, although other engineering disciplines coupled with significant patent experience with medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive patent searches and analyses to determine the patentability of inventions in the medical devices and mechanical engineering domains.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to medical devices and mechanical products.
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and attorneys to gather necessary information for patent preparation.
  • Provide legal counsel on patent matters, including infringement and validity opinions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of patent strategies for clients in the biomedical and mechanical engineering sectors.
  • Conduct due diligence on intellectual property matters in mergers, acquisitions, and licensing transactions.
  • Stay abreast of developments in patent law and regulations relevant to medical devices and mechanical engineering.

 

Requirements:

  • High level of academic achievement.
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering; other engineering disciplines with substantial patent experience accepted.
  • Admission to the USPTO is mandatory.

 

Education:

Bachelor's or higher degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
