Job Overview:
A New York City-based law firm is seeking a driven and skilled mid-level associate to join its Data Strategy, Security, and Privacy practice. The role involves working with top-tier clients across industries to provide strategic legal guidance on privacy and cybersecurity-related matters, including transactional due diligence, policy development, regulatory compliance, and data governance. The position presents an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, law, and business in a dynamic and evolving legal landscape.

Duties:

• Conduct privacy and cybersecurity due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and financing transactions

• Draft and negotiate data-related terms in key transaction documents (e.g., NDAs, purchase agreements, data processing agreements, transition service agreements)

• Advise on the implementation of privacy compliance programs and internal governance frameworks

• Develop and refine external-facing privacy notices, cookie policies, and terms of use

• Prepare and review commercial agreements involving data sharing, service provision, and customer relationships

• Provide legal interpretation of U.S. and global data protection laws and regulations, including CCPA, GDPR, GLBA, CAN-SPAM, and TCPA

• Monitor data breach notification laws and guide clients through response strategies

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience handling data privacy and cybersecurity matters

• Demonstrated involvement in technology-related transactional and compliance work

• Experience with legal issues arising in M&A and financial transactions

• Familiarity with developing internal and public-facing privacy policies and contractual protections

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Admission to practice in the State of New York

Skills:

• Strong understanding of domestic and international privacy frameworks

• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication abilities

• Proven capacity to manage complex legal issues across multidisciplinary teams

• Proactive approach to problem-solving and risk assessment
