Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with a strong business law and civil litigation background. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant experience, a friendly demeanor with clients, and a proactive approach to legal matters. Membership in the New Mexico State Bar is required.

Duties:

  • Handle all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, mediations, and contested hearings/trials
  • Provide legal counsel on business-related transactional matters
  • Assist with IP matters, including trademark, copyright, and/or patent law
  • Manage cases for Spanish-speaking clients, if necessary
  • Quickly adapt to the firm's paperless office environment and utilize computer systems efficiently
  • Undertake new legal matters promptly and effectively
  • Maintain open and clear communication with clients, keeping them informed of case developments
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset in approaching legal challenges
  • Effectively manage projects and tasks, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Draft legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings with precision and clarity

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in business law and civil litigation
  • Membership in the New Mexico State Bar
  • Familiarity with IP law, particularly trademark, copyright, and/or patent matters
  • Ability to excel in a paperless office environment and quickly learn new computer systems
  • Friendly and warm attitude towards clients
  • Proficiency in all phases of civil litigation
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal matters on short notice
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Capability to manage projects efficiently

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the New Mexico State Bar
  • Any additional certifications related to business law or litigation are a plus
