Associate Attorney Insurance Defense

Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its St. Petersburg, Florida office. This position focuses on insurance defense litigation, with cases spanning personal injury, property damage, and various liability disputes. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience in litigation and a strong desire to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment, collaborating closely with senior attorneys and clients. This is an in-office role with occasional travel to neighboring counties for hearings.

Duties:

• Advocate for clients in insurance-related litigation, handling cases involving personal injury claims, property damage disputes, and complex liability issues.
• Attend and participate in court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
• Prepare and submit legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement proposals.
• Work alongside senior attorneys to develop effective case strategies tailored to each client’s goals.
• Maintain consistent communication with clients to provide updates, gather information, and address concerns.
• Collaborate with outside experts, investigators, and opposing counsel as needed.
• Manage an active caseload and ensure all deadlines and procedural requirements are met.

Requirements:

• 1 to 3 years of litigation experience, preferably with a focus on insurance defense, personal injury, or related practice areas.
• Strong legal writing and analytical skills, with the ability to draft clear and persuasive documents.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• Flexibility to attend hearings and depositions in St. Petersburg and surrounding areas.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active member of the Florida Bar, in good standing.

• Proficiency in legal research platforms and case management software.
• Effective problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
