Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a Cyber and Data Security Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in breach investigations and responses, along with substantive experience in cybersecurity and privacy counseling.

Duties:

  • Conduct breach investigations and provide timely responses to cyber incidents.
  • Advise clients on legal matters related to cybersecurity, data protection, and privacy regulations.
  • Draft and review privacy policies, terms of use, and other legal documents related to data security.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cybersecurity compliance programs.
  • Represent clients in litigation matters related to cyber and data security breaches.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Washington, DC Bar or ability to waive in.
  • 2-6 years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on cybersecurity and data privacy.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state cybersecurity laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Certification in Cybersecurity Law or related field (preferred).

Skills:

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO, or CIS.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
