Associate Attorney needed for West Des Moines

A law firm in West Des Moines, IA, is seeking an Associate Attorney with a results-driven attitude and a focus on consumer collection industry. The ideal candidate will advocate for clients both in and out of court, communicate effectively with opposing counsel and pro se parties, draft legal documents, and handle all aspects of litigation. This position requires continuous quality work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining integrity and achieving results.

Job Duties:

• Provide thorough assessments and practical advice to clients in the consumer collection industry.
• Advocate for clients in and out of court during the legal collection process.
• Communicate with opposing counsel and pro se parties to resolve disputes and negotiate matters.
• Draft and review legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other documents.
• Document account/file activity according to firm and client policies.
• Travel to various courts in the state and handle all aspects of case litigation.
• Research laws, rulings, and regulations, and formulate legal opinions for review by supervising attorney.
• Maintain responsive communication with clients to develop and maintain relationships.
• Attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to stay updated on legal changes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Active license to practice law in the state of Iowa.
• Experience in consumer collection litigation preferred.
• Knowledge of civil litigation process and state and federal consumer protection laws.
• Superior time management skills and ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Leadership skills and ability to motivate other employees to achieve results.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
