A law firm located in Frederick, MD, is seeking an Associate Attorney to represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, admission to the Bar in one of the operating states (Maryland, Florida, California), and at least 2 years of experience in immigration law, particularly in removal proceedings. Strong analytical, research, and writing skills are essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable, and Portuguese fluency is beneficial. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to immigrant rights and legal advocacy.

 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct comprehensive client interviews to gather necessary case information.
  • Prepare legal briefs, motions, and other court documents for submission.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles to support case preparation.
  • Provide legal advice to clients regarding their removal proceedings and potential outcomes.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop effective case strategies.
  • Stay updated on new laws and regulations pertaining to immigration and removal proceedings.
  • Participate in client meetings and legal consultations.
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in one of the operating states (Maryland, Florida, California), or willingness to obtain admission.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on removal proceedings.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and legal advocacy.
