Coverage Attorney

Job Overview:
A well-established, AV-rated law firm based in the Bay Area is seeking a skilled Coverage Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in insurance coverage analysis and/or coverage litigation. This position offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment and handle a robust caseload with significant responsibility in a collaborative legal setting.

Location:

• Oakland, California

Duties:

• Manage and handle insurance coverage and/or coverage litigation cases independently

• Draft comprehensive coverage opinions for insurers

• Prepare pleadings, motions, and discovery responses

• Conduct legal research and analysis of insurance policies and applicable laws

• Represent clients in mediation and arbitration proceedings

• Provide strategic legal advice on complex coverage matters

• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and courts professionally and effectively

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance coverage or related litigation

• Demonstrated ability to handle cases with limited supervision

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters concurrently

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Must be admitted to the California Bar and in good standing

Skills:

• Excellent legal writing and oral communication skills

• Proficiency in legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar tools

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

• Organizational and time management skills for handling complex caseloads

• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
