Job Overview

A prominent family law firm in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney with at least four years of family law experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned litigator to join a supportive and fast-paced team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing high-conflict family law cases, including complex custody and equitable distribution matters, and will have significant trial experience. Duties

  • Provide legal counsel and strategy to clients regarding ongoing family law matters

  • Represent clients in court, mediations, and hearings

  • Prepare and argue motions and legal pleadings in court

  • Draft legal documents including separation agreements, property deeds, wills, and settlement proposals

  • Conduct legal research and review of case-related evidence such as DSS reports and pleadings

  • Analyze case law and court decisions relevant to ongoing matters

  • Develop strategic approaches to resolve cases efficiently and cost-effectively

  • Manage high-conflict custody and equitable distribution cases

  • Negotiate and settle cases with opposing counsel

  • Conduct consultations with prospective clients

  • Engage in business development activities

  • Maintain trust-based relationships with clients

  • Meet billable hour requirements as set by the firm

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in family law litigation

  • Experience as lead (first-chair) attorney in court trials

  • Proven ability to manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision

  • Strong background in negotiation, public speaking, and problem-solving

  • Client-first mindset and ability to work in emotionally complex situations

  • Familiarity with North Carolina family law courts and procedures

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic performance preferred

Certifications

  • Active North Carolina State Bar license (required)
