Job Overview:
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its Pensions, Benefits & Investments practice group. This role is ideal for an experienced attorney with a strong background in private funds and investment matters. The position offers the opportunity to lead high-level transactions across a variety of asset classes and public market structures. Candidates should demonstrate strong legal acumen, project ownership, and a collaborative mindset. The role is not on a partner track and is available in any of the firm's U.S. offices.

Location:

  • Tucson, AZ

Duties:

  • Advise institutional clients on private fund investments and related regulatory matters

  • Draft and negotiate investment documentation, including fund agreements and side letters

  • Manage transactions involving various asset classes across both investor and manager sides

  • Lead deal execution and collaborate with internal teams and client representatives

  • Provide strategic legal counsel on fiduciary obligations, ERISA issues, and investment structures

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and firm policies

  • Handle multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of legal experience in pensions, benefits, investments, or related transactional practice

  • Experience working with private funds and public market transactions

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete complex deals independently

  • Proven track record of delivering business-focused legal solutions to sophisticated clients

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic performance preferred

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state where the candidate intends to practice

Skills:

  • Expertise in fund structures, investment agreements, and asset management

  • Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Capable of working in a collaborative, cross-functional legal environment

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple high-stakes matters
