Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Associate for its Commercial Real Estate practice group in Atlanta, GA. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in leading transactions and advising clients on a wide range of commercial real estate matters. This role involves working closely with clients, managing files, mentoring junior attorneys, and engaging in business development activities.

Duties

  • Lead negotiation and documentation of purchase and sale agreements for commercial properties.
  • Advise clients on leasing matters, including drafting and negotiating leases for landlords and tenants.
  • Represent lenders and borrowers in private financing transactions, including loan documentation and due diligence.
  • Manage title, survey, and zoning reviews, and coordinate closing logistics.
  • Serve as primary client contact on mid-size matters and assist partners on complex transactions.
  • Collaborate with team members and support staff to ensure efficient, high-quality client service.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals.
  • Participate in firm initiatives focused on business development and practice growth.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Active membership in the Georgia Bar (or eligibility for reciprocity).
  • 6+ years of commercial real estate experience, including handling purchase/sale transactions independently.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial leases (retail, office, and/or industrial).
  • Experience representing lenders or borrowers in secured real estate financing.
  • Strong working knowledge of title, survey, zoning, and land use issues.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proven track record of client service and relationship development.
  • Interest in mentoring junior attorneys and contributing to a collaborative firm culture.

Education

  • Doctor of Law (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Georgia Bar (or eligibility for reciprocity).
