A law firm seeks a highly motivated mid-level associate to join its Employment, Labor, Benefits, and Immigration practice group. This position focuses on defending complex employment litigation, particularly wage and hour class and collective actions. The role offers opportunities for professional growth and a collaborative team environment.

Duties

  • Defend employers in complex employment litigation, including wage and hour class and collective actions.
  • Conduct witness interviews and prepare for and participate in depositions.
  • Guide employers on federal and state employment law compliance.
  • Draft workplace policies and assist with the development of employment training programs.
  • Support trial preparation and, where applicable, participate in trial proceedings.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of substantive experience in employment litigation, with a focus on class and collective actions.
  • Proven experience in conducting witness interviews and handling depositions.
  • Familiarity with counseling employers on compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent academic background and strong legal writing and analytical skills.
  • Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction of the office location.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active DC Bar membership in good standing.

Skills

  • Strong litigation skills, including case strategy and deposition preparation.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
