A law firm in Houston is seeking a Patent Attorney with 2+ years of experience to support the firm's patent prosecution practice. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers, and will be responsible for drafting patent applications and prosecuting applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

 

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and prosecute applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Conduct technical research using available resources to support various patent-related matters.
  • Draft scientific and technical patent applications clearly and concisely.
  • Manage internal and client-driven deadlines, handling assignments from multiple partners and clients.
  • Provide support to attorneys in patent-related matters.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in a relevant field.
  • 2+ years of experience drafting patent applications, with a specialization in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers.
  • Registration to practice in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, writing skills, and analytical skills.

 

Education:

Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in a relevant field.

 

Certifications:

  • Registration to practice in front of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • If appropriate, licensed to practice law in their respective state.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting patent applications and prosecuting applications.
  • Strong technical expertise in electronics, semi-conductors, circuitry, optics, and lasers.
  • Ability to conduct technical research and analyze complex technical concepts.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
