Job Overview:
A prominent national law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Public Finance practice in Washington, D.C. This opportunity is ideal for a licensed attorney with at least two years of experience and a strong interest in public finance transactions. The position offers hands-on experience working closely with seasoned partners in a collaborative environment, with a clear path for growth and partnership potential.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Draft loan agreements and related transactional documents

  • Coordinate and conduct transaction closings

  • Manage and review due diligence for public finance transactions

  • Draft and negotiate transaction documents including authorizing and organizational documents

  • Interpret and apply state and federal laws and regulations

  • Ensure all required approvals are in place before executing transactions

  • Work directly with clients, partners, and stakeholders in governmental and finance sectors

  • Support the firm's goal of delivering exceptional legal services to clients

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in public finance or related legal fields

  • Prior work with state/local government finance departments, institutional lenders, or investment banks preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the District of Columbia (or ability to obtain within the first year of employment)

Skills:

  • Familiarity with tax-exempt financing, asset-based finance, or real estate finance

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills

  • High level of organization and matter management

  • Confident decision-making and negotiation capabilities
