A law firm in Fredericksburg is seeking an experienced Construction Attorney with a focused portable construction practice and a minimum of 6 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in drafting and negotiating construction contracts, litigating construction claims, and advising clients on regulatory compliance throughout construction projects.

 

Duties:

  • Manage a focused portable construction practice.
  • Draft and negotiate construction and design contracts.
  • Litigate construction-related claims including defects, delays, cost overruns, and bid protests.
  • Provide legal advice on bonds, sureties, mechanic’s liens, and public contract law.
  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance throughout construction projects.
  • Defend matters before the Construction Board, if applicable.
  • Handle subcontractor disputes and products liability issues.
  • Familiarity with AIA forms and LEED certification preferred.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Virginia or North Carolina.
  • Minimum of 6 years of construction law experience.
  • Focused portable construction practice.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts.
  • Litigation experience in construction-related claims.
  • Knowledge of bonds, sureties, mechanic’s liens, and public contract law.
  • Familiarity with AIA forms and LEED certification preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:
