A law firm based in Chicago is seeking a Senior Tax Associate Attorney or Counsel with a strong background in tax law, preferably with 7+ years of experience. The ideal candidate must have significant expertise in partnership taxation, mergers and acquisitions, or tax considerations related to real estate investments. The Senior Tax Associate Attorney or Counsel will be responsible for providing high-level tax counsel to clients, with a focus on partnership taxation, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate investments. This role requires extensive experience in federal and state tax matters, as well as strong research, writing, and communication skills.

 

Duties:

  • Provide high-level tax counsel to clients
  • Specialize in partnership taxation, mergers, and acquisitions, or tax considerations related to real estate investments
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on tax issues
  • Draft legal documents, memos, and opinions
  • Advise on tax planning strategies
  • Assist with tax-related aspects of transactions and investments
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations

 

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience working on tax matters with federal and state elements
  • Significant expertise in partnership taxation, mergers, and acquisitions, or real estate tax considerations
  • Knowledge of state and local tax laws (preferred)
  • Experience with tax-exempt organizations (preferred)
  • Strong academic background
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
  • Bar admission required

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Bar Admission

 

Skills:

  • Expertise in partnership taxation, mergers, and acquisitions, or real estate tax
  • Proficient in legal research and analysis
  • Excellent writing and communication abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
