Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking a mid-level Construction & Public Contracts Associate to join its team of attorneys representing construction clients in all facets of their business. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in construction litigation, including bid protests, claim preparation and presentation, negotiations, mediations, litigation, and appeals. This role offers significant responsibility and hands-on experience in a collaborative and team-oriented work environment.

Duties

  • Represent construction clients in bid protests, claim preparation, negotiations, mediations, and litigation.
  • Take and defend depositions, draft and argue dispositive motions, and prepare for arbitrations, mediations, and trials.
  • Manage and evaluate significant complex disputes and litigation matters on a national basis.
  • Develop and execute litigation and resolution strategies.
  • Engage in risk management of potential claims.
  • Report to clients, manage local counsel, and work with experts.
  • Collaborate with multiple entities to ensure effective case management.
  • Handle e-discovery as part of litigation support.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in construction litigation, including bid protests, claim preparation, and disputes related to construction contracts.
  • Experience with e-discovery and various types of construction disputes (e.g., delay and disruption claims, payment disputes, breach of contract claims) is a plus.
  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar is required.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage complex disputes and litigation matters with multiple stakeholders.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar (required).

  • Strong writing and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with depositions, dispositive motions, and trial preparation.
  • E-discovery proficiency.
