Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Austin, TX, is seeking a litigation attorney with hands-on experience in civil dispute resolution. This role involves managing cases from intake through final resolution, engaging in all aspects of trial preparation, and providing strategic analysis on liability and damages. The position offers a collaborative work environment with access to seasoned professionals and the opportunity to work on challenging and diverse matters across state and federal jurisdictions.

Duties:

  • Conduct liability and exposure evaluations for civil claims

  • Draft responsive pleadings and manage all aspects of discovery

  • Take and defend depositions, including expert and fact witnesses

  • Handle legal research and draft persuasive legal memoranda and briefings

  • Prepare for and participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and hearings

  • Oversee case files, including client communications and procedural tracking

  • Adhere to billing protocols and meet established productivity benchmarks

  • Travel on occasion for depositions, court appearances, or client meetings

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas

  • 2-5 years of experience in civil litigation

  • Familiarity with courtroom procedures and evidentiary standards

  • Demonstrated proficiency in drafting and negotiating legal documents

  • Ability to handle complex legal matters independently or as part of a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Admitted and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills

  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local procedural rules

  • Proficiency with legal software tools and the Microsoft Office Suite
