Job Overview:
A leading international law firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Public Policy team in Washington, D.C. This position is ideal for an attorney with experience in international trade, regulatory law, and public policy. Location:

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on international trade policy, regulatory issues, and cross-border legal matters

  • Lead and manage complex, multi-jurisdictional projects involving legal, regulatory, and policy components

  • Apply legal project management tools and techniques to improve client service and workflow efficiency

  • Maintain and enhance client relationships through regular updates, communication, and strategic guidance

  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff, promoting team collaboration

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes through technology and best practices

  • Support business development and thought leadership in relevant policy areas

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience at a top-tier law firm or in a government/public policy setting

  • Demonstrated expertise in international trade law and related policy issues

  • Proven leadership in managing legal teams and high-profile client relationships

  • Prior experience in the U.S. Congress or Executive Branch preferred but not required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Strong academic performance preferred

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Advanced understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks in international trade and policy

  • Proficient in legal project management methodologies and software tools

  • Excellent writing, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability

  • Commercial acumen with the ability to align legal solutions with business goals
