Insurance Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks an Insurance Defense Attorney for their Merrillville, IN office.

Job Overview:

The Insurance Defense Attorney will represent clients in various insurance defense matters, including Automobile, Homeowner’s, and Commercial Liability claims. They must possess superior academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects effectively.

Duties:

• Represent clients in insurance defense litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on insurance law issues.
• Prepare for and attend court hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance carriers.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1+ years of experience practicing law.
• Superior academic credentials from an accredited law school.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and appearance.
• Well-organized and capable of meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience handling insurance defense cases is preferred
• Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in good standing with the Indiana State Bar Association or eligibility for admission by motion.
