A law firm seeks a Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney for its Baltimore, MD, office. The ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of legal experience, focusing on intellectual property (IP) and expertise in drafting and patent prosecution. The candidate should have a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. Design engineering experience with a chip company is considered advantageous. Job Overview: The Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney will assist clients in obtaining patents and advising on matters related to IP law. This role involves drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, conducting patentability searches, and providing legal counsel on patent-related issues.

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Conduct patentability searches and analyze prior art.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on patent prosecution matters.
  • Assist with patent portfolio management and strategy.
  • Conduct due diligence for IP transactions.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to identify and protect inventions.
  • Stay updated on developments in IP law and relevant technologies.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in intellectual property law with a focus on patent prosecution.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar field.
  • Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
  • Familiarity with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or related technologies preferred.
  • Admission to the USPTO.
  • Bar licensure in California is advantageous.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field preferred.

Certifications:
