A law firm based in Houston is seeking a highly qualified Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background, substantial law firm or industry experience, exceptional writing and communication skills, and a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering. Candidates with other engineering disciplines and significant patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products will also be considered. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct thorough analysis and research to assess the patentability of medical devices and mechanical engineering innovations.
  • Draft, prepare, and prosecute patent applications in compliance with USPTO regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and technical experts to gather necessary information for patent prosecution.
  • Provide legal advice on intellectual property matters related to medical devices and mechanical engineering.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of patent strategies to protect the firm's clients' innovations.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
  • Admission to the USPTO is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Strong academic achievements with a focus on patent law or related fields.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of patent laws and regulations, particularly in the medical devices and mechanical engineering sectors.
