Mid-Level Patent Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Waukesha, WI, is seeking a Mid-Level Patent Associate Attorney with 2+ years of prosecution experience, particularly in portfolio management. The ideal candidate will have expertise in optics, acoustics, video and audio signal processing and codecs, virtual/augmented reality, microscopy systems, and imaging techniques. Experience in software and AI is highly desirable. The role involves handling various patent-related tasks and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Duties:

• Conduct patent prosecution, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications
• Manage patent portfolios and provide strategic advice on patent matters
• Conduct patent analysis/opinions of counsel and participate in IPRs
• Collaborate with clients, inventors, and internal teams to identify patent opportunities and strategies
• Stay updated on relevant patent laws, regulations, and industry trends
• Handle other legal tasks and projects as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics, or Biomedical (with an electrical or software focus)
• 2+ years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
• Experience with portfolio management
• Preference is given to candidates with demonstrated expertise in specified technical areas
• Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus
• Admission to the USPTO is a plus
