A law firm in Denver, CO, seeks an experienced Tax Partner to lead its tax practice group. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of tax law and will play a key role in providing strategic tax advice to clients, managing client relationships, and overseeing tax-related transactions and controversies.

Duties:

  • Lead and manage the tax practice group, providing strategic direction and oversight.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor on tax matters.
  • Provide expert tax advice and guidance to clients on various tax issues, including corporate, international, and individual taxation.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance efforts for clients, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Handle tax-related transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, and financing arrangements.
  • Represent clients in tax controversies before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and other taxing authorities.
  • Collaborate with other practice areas within the firm to provide comprehensive legal solutions to clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing tax law, preferably within a reputable law firm.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Colorado State Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex tax matters and client relationships.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in mentoring junior attorneys.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Colorado State Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation preferred.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of tax law principles and practices.
  • Strong understanding of corporate taxation, international taxation, and individual taxation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide strategic tax advice and solutions to clients.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
