Associate Attorney needed for Walnut Creek office

Job Overview: A law firm in Walnut Creek, CA, seeks an Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a supervising attorney and will be responsible for handling all aspects of civil litigation cases, focusing on asbestos defense. They will be expected to demonstrate exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a heavy caseload efficiently.

Duties:

• Work up cases from initial client contact to trial under the guidance of a supervising attorney.
• Prepare and respond to discovery requests.
• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions.
• Conduct percipient and expert depositions.
• Assist with trial preparation and provide support during trial proceedings.

Requirements:

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a litigation attorney.
• Priority is given to candidates with experience in asbestos defense.
• Experience in civil litigation or toxic tort/asbestos defense preferred.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational, time management, research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in billing is required.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar.
